Youth Ministries

Come join us on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 – 8:00 as Jr. and Sr. High students meet together for an exciting time of games, worship, prayer, and Bible Study – and be challenged with us to be faithful in your walk with the Lord!

Welcome!

In his first letter to Timothy, Paul says “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.” (1 Tim 4:12) What a great challenge and awesome responsibility that is for young people in the church, as well as a constant reminder to be more like Christ each day in our thoughts, attitudes, and actions. Our desire for the Grace Church youth group is that we truly love God and serve Him with all of our hearts, minds and strength (Mk 10:30) as we grow and develop into the young men and women He wants us to be.

Bible Study

Last summer we learned so much in our study of creation based on Ken Ham’s series, “Answers in Genesis.” As we looked at the many wonders in the world around us, we were constantly reminded of Romans 1:12, which says “since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made.” While many in the world today deny the existence of God through philosophies like secular humanism, it is important that Christ’s followers be able to stand firm and combat these destructive ideas. By examining the world of nature through “Biblical glasses” and seeing how all things point to a designer who has a specific plan for His creation, we were able to gain a deeper understanding of the created universe and develop a strong defense against those who would deny God’s authority and written Word.

This fall we concluded a series entitled, “My Heart, Christ’s Home.” We saw that just as Jesus promised his followers in John 14 that he was leaving to go prepare a home for them, they too could prepare a home for Him in their own hearts here on Earth, in which He would come and dwell (Jn 14:23, Eph 3:16-17). We looked at the different “rooms” in our lives, and how we can clean out the junk that so easily pervades those areas in order to make them clean and pure places that are pleasing to Christ.

This winter and spring we will looking at the second part of a series by Dr. R.C. Sproul entitled “Dust to Glory,” which traces the path of God’s redemptive history from the creation of man (from dust) to sanctification and glorification in Christ. We began the first part of this study last year, were we saw God’s plan unfolding throughout the course of the Old Testament during the creation account, the lives of the Patriarchs, Israel’s captivity and subsequent exodus from Egypt, descriptions of the Tabernacle and sacrificial system, and the entrance into the Promised Land. We were reminded of God’s justice, holiness, mercy, forgiveness, and love, as well as convicted of our own shortcomings and failures, and of our need for a savior. Our intention is pick up where we left off, and continue in our study where we will see numerous signs pointing to the promised deliverer and ultimate sacrifice, Jesus Christ.

Worship

Each Wednesday night we have a lively time of worship where we praise God through a wide variety and styles of songs, including new stuff from current Christian artists as well as praise favorites! Everyone is encouraged to sing loudly and with joy. Requests for songs are also welcomed.

Activities

We love hanging out and doing stuff together. Last year some of our activities included leaf-raking for the elderly, outings to the civic center for concerts and shows, a camping trip, hiking, a lock-in, going to the movies, and a ski trip to West Virginia! Some of us also went to Jamaica on a mission trip! Stay tuned for more fun and exciting activities coming up this winter and spring!
